Yo! Noid Review

This is my first ever review! Anyways, this review is going to be about an NES game called "Yo, Noid!", which was released by Capcom back in 1990.

With a company like that, how could you mess this one up? They've came up with classics such as Mega Man, the Ducktales game, and that infamously hard Ghosts n' Goblins, so this one should be good, right? Well, it is.

The Game

This is the title screen. Pretty weird, huh?

At first glance, this game looks like a shovelware game made to promote a company. Well, it is a shovelware game. A pretty damn good shovelware game, I might add!

You play as the titular Noid, who used to be a mascot for Domino's back in the 80's. They later bought him back (to the delight of all of those annoying nostalgiatards) in 2021, but they stopped using him after that. In this game, he just throws around a yo-yo and also uses it to kill the enemies. Now, this game seems like a good game, but it suffers from one major flaw....

...the difficulty.

If the Noid comes into contact with basically anything, he'll die in one hit. You only start with 3 lives, by the way, which means if you lose all of your lives, you get a game over. Sure, you'll have continues, but you only have 3 of them!

Aside from all of that, the game's pretty good. However, this game isn't even an original creation, as it was originally released as a completely different (and extremely obscure) game titled "Kamen no Ninja Hanamaru", but according to Wikipedia, the game's textures, sprites, and music were all changed to be more American-like (why didn't they add in a health bar for that matter?).
Does anything here look familiar to you?

I rate this game a 9.5/10. On the other hand, I'll rate that Hanamaru Ninja game a 8/10.
